Therapy for Grief

Grief is complicated and can take many forms. Grief can be identified as an overwhelming sense of sadness due to the loss of someone or something significant. Losing someone or something important to us can be one of the most painful experiences in an individual’s life. Grief can be acute, or complicated. Therapists usually define complicated grief as overwhelming feelings of sadness which do not subside over a lengthy period of time. At Peaks and Valleys Therapy, we support individuals navigating grief by helping them confront and safely process uncomfortable feelings. Grief therapy results in people feeling more accepting and in control of their situation and can provide them the confidence to look forward with positivity.

Grief therapy can help people navigate the loss of a loved one, a separation or divorce, the loss of a pet, losing a house or financial hardship, navigating the loss of mobility or body function, and more.

We at Peaks and Valleys Therapy, we understand that every individual is unique. Therefore, we do not provide a one-size fits all approach to therapy. Rather, depending on the person and issues that they are struggling with, we pull from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based therapies including CBT, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Emotionally Focused therapy, etc.
