Children: (Ages 7-13)

The majority of mental health disorders have their onset in childhood and adolescence. Bringing your child to therapy does not mean you are an inadequate parent, quite the opposite. Providing your child an outlet to teach them how to identify and navigate difficult emotions builds resilience, self-awareness, and emotional maturity.

Our therapists work with your child using creativity and imagination to understand their inner world so that they can best help them process stressors and accumulate coping strategies.

Below are some presenting issues we work with in children:
• ADHD understanding and management
• Social anxiety
• Anxiety
• Low mood
• Bullying
• Low self-esteem
• Poor emotional regulation
• Self-harm
• Family conflict
• Trauma
• Divorce
• Physical aggression

We at Peaks and Valleys Therapy, we understand that every individual is unique. Therefore, we do not provide a one-size fits all approach to therapy. Rather, depending on the person and issues that they are struggling with, we pull from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based therapies including CBT, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Emotionally Focused therapy, etc.
