Family Therapy

The health of our family of origin directly impacts our ability to have healthy relationships in the future. The relationships we have with our family members impact on our self-worth, confidence, emotional well being and security. Family Therapy can provide a space for each family member to present concerns and feelings in a supportive and productive way. Family therapy allows space for family members to be heard and feel validated by their family members. The goal of family therapy is to improve empathy and understanding for each family member in order to improve communication and strengthen attachment.

Common presenting concerns in family therapy include:
• Parenting stressors
• Navigating Separation and Divorce
• Grief
• Major life transitions
• Addiction or mental health issues of a family member
• family members feeling unsupported, invalidated, overlooked, ignored etc.
• struggles with boundaries
• parenting neurodiverse children or teens

We at Peaks and Valleys Therapy, we understand that every individual is unique. Therefore, we do not provide a one-size fits all approach to therapy. Rather, depending on the person and issues that they are struggling with, we pull from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based therapies including CBT, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Emotionally Focused therapy, etc.
