Teens: (Ages 14-18)

The teenage years can be difficult to navigate. Many teens struggle to cope with the rapid physical, psychological and emotional changes they experience during this time. Family issues, relationships, friendships, social media and academic stress add to the challenges of these years.

Sometimes teens need a supportive adult, outside of their daily life, that can provide them unconditional and unbiased support. Therapy can help teens gain insight into their issues, increase self-esteem, identify their strengths and how to use them, and build a toolbox of social and emotional skills to help them move forwards with confidence.

Here are some of the issues that individual therapy for teens can help with:
• Anxiety
• Depression/Low Mood
• Perfectionism
• Social anxiety
• Social Media struggles
• ADHD management
• Identity issues including LGBTQ+
• Academic struggles
• Family issues Transitions
• Communication issues
• PTSD
• Childhood Trauma

We at Peaks and Valleys Therapy, we understand that every individual is unique. Therefore, we do not provide a one-size fits all approach to therapy. Rather, depending on the person and issues that they are struggling with, we pull from an eclectic toolbox of evidence-based therapies including CBT, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Emotionally Focused therapy, etc.
